Biography

Benjamin Hick (1790–1842) brought ingenuity to engineering in Bolton, devising steam engines and locomotives marked by reliability, and helping to turn the factory towns of the North into engines of industry.

He rests there still, his grave near the mills and workshops he helped to power, the legacy of his mechanical skill a continuing foundation for the community’s prosperity.
