Benjamin Huger Rutledge

Biography

Benjamin Huger Rutledge (1797–1832) was a young man of promise whose life was cut short in his mid-thirties. Despite his brief years, he left an impression on those who knew him during the early decades of the nineteenth century.

Rutledge's memory is preserved in the Church of the Holy Cross Cemetery, where he rests among his community. His life, though brief, remains part of the historical fabric of his time and place.
