U.S. Representative
Biography
Born in 1798 as the republic matured, Benjamin Thompson embraced the study of law and devoted his early years to the civic affairs of his community. He earned his neighbors' trust through measured judgment and a steady adherence to constitutional principle.
Called to the national stage, Thompson carried those sensibilities into the United States House of Representatives, where he labored to keep the voices of his constituents close and to ensure deliberation remained the hallmark of the legislature until his passing in 1852.
