Beriah Redfield, born in 1744, devoted himself to the civic life of Southwick, helping to guide the town through early republican debates while tending the land and supporting neighbors in a time of plentiful change.
He opened his door to travelers, aided the local church and schools, and remained a reliable counselor until his passing and burial in Southwick Cemetery.
