Biography
Rabbi Bernard Drachman was a leading voice in American Orthodox Judaism, serving for decades as a scholar, teacher, and pulpit rabbi before taking leadership roles with Congregation Shearith Israel in New York. A prolific author, he helped codify traditional observance while engaging modern scholarship, writing works such as The Faith of Judaism to guide the faithful.
He also stood as an early advocate for Zionism in the United States, helping to organize young congregants and to raise awareness of Jewish aspirations in Palestine; his calm authority is still remembered with reverence at Mount Zion Cemetery.
