Biography

Bernard Taylor lived through a time of great change in the United States, and though the details of his life remain scant, his burial at San Francisco National Cemetery reflects a connection to the collective sacrifice of the era. He traveled west during a period when so many young Americans answered calls to serve or sought new beginnings on the Pacific Coast.

He passed in 1875, leaving behind the untold stories of a life lived amid the challenges of the post–Civil War nation, and the comrades who shared his final resting ground continue to honor him in memory.
