Bertram Dickson

1873–1913 (age 40)

Biography

Bertram Dickson was among the first British army officers to earn a pilot's licence, bringing courage to the earliest experiments in military aviation and sharing his enthusiasm for air navigation with fellow officers.

Though his life was cut short, his daring flights and thoughtful reports on the potential of aircraft helped lay the groundwork for the air services that followed, and his family recalls him fondly at Achanalt.
