Biography

Bertram Ross rose from the 1940s modern dance scene to become one of Martha Graham's most lauded partners, bringing both power and lyrical nuance to the roles he originated in her company. His stage presence and artistic partnership helped define the expressive vocabulary of modern dance for a global audience.

In later years Ross shared his deep knowledge through teaching, choreography, and thoughtful commentary, ensuring that Graham's legacy continued to inspire new generations. He was laid to rest at Kensico Cemetery, remembered for his devotion to the art form.
