Biography

Bobby Vee (1943–2016) rose to fame after stepping in to perform at a fundraiser after the 1959 plane crash that claimed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper, and his smooth voice on hits such as 'Take Good Care of My Baby' and 'Rubber Ball' helped define early pop-rock radio. He and the Vee-Bees brought earnest charm to teen clubs and television programs around the country.

He entertained audiences for decades, often sharing the stage with young artists and lending his talents to charitable performances, and admirers now visit Saint John the Baptist Parish Cemetery to remember his generous spirit.
