Biography

Boyd Alexander was both a military officer and an intrepid explorer, charting the Lake Chad region with meticulous observations and bringing back knowledge of the peoples and wildlife that enriched the Royal Geographical Society.

His explorations, undertaken with bravery and curiosity, inspired later scholars of Africa, and his name survives amid the memorials at Winchester Cathedral where the courage of his expeditions is remembered.
