Biography

Buddy Bolden (1877–1931) was a pioneering jazz cornetist who played a significant role in the early development of jazz music in New Orleans. His innovative approach to the instrument and his influential performances helped shape the emerging jazz tradition during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Bolden's contributions to American music history remain significant, despite the brevity of his recording career and the limited documentation of his life. He is remembered at Holt Cemetery as a foundational figure in the development of one of America's most important musical genres.
