Biography

Byron Reed (1829-1891) made Omaha home and, through his work in real estate and civic circles, helped shape the emerging city. He was known for a steady commitment to fairness in land transactions and took pride in building the foundations of a prosperous community.

As he oversaw growth, Reed also took interest in preserving the history of the place he loved, leaving behind writings and collections that city residents would remember. He rests at Prospect Hill Cemetery where many of Omaha's early builders are also laid to rest.
