Biography

Callisto Guatelli (1819–1900) was an accomplished composer who contributed to the musical life of the Ottoman Empire during the nineteenth century. His compositions reflected the cosmopolitan artistic traditions of Istanbul and the broader Ottoman cultural sphere.

Guatelli's long life and career spanned most of the nineteenth century, allowing him to witness and participate in the evolution of Ottoman musical traditions. He was buried in Istanbul, the cultural capital of the Ottoman Empire, where his artistic legacy endured.
