Biography
Carl Hilmar Guenther emigrated from Germany and turned his training as a millwright into the successful Pioneer Flour Mills, introducing modern milling methods that fueled growth throughout Texas and beyond.
He invested in the San Antonio community, built a gracious home and gardens that became a gathering place, and supported churches and schools during his lifetime, leaving a tangible imprint when he passed in 1902.
