Biography
Carolyn B. Shelton, born in 1876, broke barriers as she entered government service, becoming a trusted secretary to President Woodrow Wilson and helping ensure the presidency continued to function when the Chief Executive was ill.
Her calm, steady hand kept daily operations on course and she remained a champion for women in public service, and when she passed she was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery beside those she supported.
