Biography

Casey Jones gained fame as a courageous railroad engineer, known for his constant vigilance and steady hand at the throttle of the Illinois Central Railroad, where he earned respect for keeping trains on time.

On April 30, 1900, he stayed at his post to slow an oncoming collision, giving his life to save his passengers, and his story of sacrifice lives on near his burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
