Born in 1778, Catharine Carroll Harper witnessed the formation of a nation and devoted her years to nurturing the Carroll and Harper families through turbulent times of revolution, expansion, and the Civil War era.

Her gentle presence and steadfast care kept relatives close, and her memory is cherished by descendants who remember her calm strength; she rests today at New Cathedral Cemetery.
