Catherine Weldon

Biography

Catherine Weldon was born in 1790 and lived during the early years of British colonial rule in India. She was part of the European community in Calcutta during a formative period of the city's development under the East India Company's administration.

Catherine's life was tragically brief, ending at just twelve years of age. Her burial at South Park Street Cemetery reflects the sorrows that befell many families during this era, when childhood mortality remained a significant challenge even among the privileged European population.
