Biography

Celestin Werner was a Catholic monk who devoted his life to monastic service and spiritual contemplation. He lived during the eighteenth century, a period when monastic communities continued to play important roles in the religious and cultural life of Central Europe despite significant social changes.

Brother Celestin's monastic vocation represented the enduring traditions of Catholic religious life. He was laid to rest at Plasy, home to one of Bohemia's most significant Benedictine monasteries, a fitting final resting place for a man dedicated to monastic spirituality and community.
