Biography

Celina Szymanowska (1812–1855) was a Polish composer who contributed significantly to the musical culture of the nineteenth century. Born in Poland during the Napoleonic Wars, she developed her compositional talents during the Romantic era, a period of great innovation and emotional expression in European music.

Szymanowska was interred in the Champeaux cemetery of Montmorency, near Paris, where she had spent her creative years. Her brief life of forty-three years was marked by artistic dedication, and her works reflected the Romantic sensibilities that defined her generation of composers.
