Biography

Charles Boisselot (1784–1851) was a French actor who graced the stages of Paris during the early nineteenth century. His theatrical career spanned the Romantic period, when French drama experienced a remarkable renaissance and actors became celebrated figures in the cultural life of the nation.

Boisselot was laid to rest in Père Lachaise Cemetery, where many of Paris's most distinguished artists and intellectuals found their final resting place. His sixty-seven years witnessed the transformation of French theater from classical traditions to the passionate innovations of Romanticism.
