Biography

Charles Chubb turned a modest London workshop into the Chubb lockworks, inventing new mechanisms and establishing exacting standards that gave households and banks greater confidence in their security.

Besides expanding his business, he encouraged the training of skilled metalworkers and supported the surrounding communities, remaining associated with the firm until his passing in 1845 and burial at Highgate Cemetery.
