Biography
Charles D. Palmer entered service in the interwar years and spent decades commanding troops in Europe and stateside, culminating in his promotion to four-star general as the Army adapted to the demands of the Cold War.
He shaped personnel policies, insisted on rigorous training, and after retirement his commitment to the profession of arms was remembered at Arlington National Cemetery.
