Charles Elliot

Biography

Charles Elliot, born in 1801, carried the responsibilities of political life with a deep sense of duty, while remaining faithful to the Parish Church of St John the Evangelist in Exmouth. His public service was guided by a commitment to the welfare of his constituents and to the moral tenor of the community.

He died in 1875, leaving the parish to remember him not only as a politician but as a neighbour who attended worship and encouraged others in their civic and spiritual lives. His resting place at St John the Evangelist marks the close of a life spent in service.
