Biography

Charles-François Houel (1819–1849) was a French artist who came of age during the Romantic movement, a period of great creative ferment in European art and culture. Though his life was cut short at thirty years of age, he contributed to the vibrant artistic scene of 19th-century Paris.

Houel's burial in Père Lachaise Cemetery places him among other notable artists and cultural figures of his era. His early death prevented him from achieving the full measure of his artistic potential, yet he remains part of the legacy of French artistic achievement during the mid-19th century.
