Charles J. Lanman (1795-1870) was a writer whose words sought to celebrate the ideals and stories of Norwich City; through his books and essays he added grace to the public discourse and urged readers toward thoughtful citizenship.

Norwich City Cemetery now shelters his remains, and visitors recall the literary spark and civic spirit he shared with his neighbors.
