Biography

Charles Lennox Richardson was a British businessperson active in Japan during the mid-nineteenth century. He conducted commercial operations in Yokohama during a transformative period of Japanese-Western relations.

Richardson's life was cut short in 1862, and he was laid to rest in the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery, a burial ground that reflects the international community present in Japan during the early Meiji period.
