Biography

Charles Robert Ashbee, born 1863, was a leading voice of the Arts and Crafts movement, advocating for handcrafted beauty and humane working conditions while designing furniture, metalwork, and buildings with sensitivity to their surroundings.

When he settled near Seal, he became closely involved with the Church of St Peter and St Paul, offering creative insight and personal friendship to the congregation until his passing in 1942, leaving a legacy of inspired craftsmanship.
