Charles Roome, born in 1812, was a devoted steward of his city's civic and business institutions, bringing thoughtful leadership to the boards and civic causes of his day.
His steady presence and willingness to support charitable undertakings allied him with many of the leaders who guided New York through rapid growth, and he now rests peacefully at Green-Wood Cemetery.
