Charles Vernon Lisle, born in 1906, was a lifelong Clarinda resident whose steady work on the family farm and quiet leadership helped steer the town through the lean years of the Depression and the promise of postwar renewal. He was known for mentoring young neighbors in the skills of stewardship and providing a listening ear at the door of his home.
Charles also served on the local school board, championing educational opportunities while keeping the local churches and service clubs vibrant, and his memory endures in Clarinda Cemetery where he lies amid the fields he loved.
