Politician/Vice President
Biography
Charles W. Fairbanks was born in 1852 in Indiana and rose through the legal profession to serve as U.S. senator and then vice president of the United States alongside Theodore Roosevelt. A thoughtful legislator, he sought to balance the needs of farmers and industrialists while keeping the national interest at the fore.
Even after leaving national office, he remained a respected counsel on public affairs and lent his support to civic institutions, never losing the humility of his Hoosier upbringing. He is interred at Crown Hill Cemetery, where admirers remember his measured leadership.
