Chileab Smith

Biography

Chileab Smith (1708–1800) lived ninety-two years, spanning from the early colonial period through the early decades of American independence. His remarkable longevity allowed him to witness the transformation of thirteen colonies into a sovereign nation.

Smith was laid to rest at Baptist Corner Cemetery following his death in 1800. His life represents a connection to America's earliest history and the profound changes that occurred during his lifetime.
