Biography

Clara Maass studied nursing at a time when few women could do so, dedicated herself to caring for civilians and soldiers alike, and volunteered for medical research in an effort to combat yellow fever.

Her courageous choices and the compassionate care she offered to countless patients are commemorated at Fairmount Cemetery, where she is remembered as a hero of the profession.
