Biography

Clarence Hockenberger came of age at the turn of the 20th century and carried with him a bright optimism for Webster's rural life. Known for his willingness to lend a hand during harvest and his thoughtful conversation at church suppers, he embodied the spirit of a neighborly caretaker.

Even as the world around him began to change, Clarence remained devoted to the rhythms of the countryside and the people he served, offering steady support to those in need. When he died in 1923 he was buried in Webster Rural Cemetery, where friends recall the kindness he offered without fanfare.
