Biography

Claudius W. Sears earned a commission at West Point and spent years in uniform, rising to command brigades during the Civil War. He bore the burdens of command with a measured resolve, guiding his men through campaigns that tested all who wore the grey.

After the war he sought a quieter life, committed to reconciliation and to the lasting ties of kinship, and he is now laid to rest among fellow veterans in Oxford Memorial Cemetery, where those who remember the sacrifices of that era honor his service.
