Biography

Clément Joseph Lemoine was a French missionary who dedicated his life to spreading Christianity in Japan during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Based in Yokohama, he worked tirelessly to establish missionary communities and provide spiritual guidance to both Japanese converts and foreign residents throughout his decades of service.

Lemoine's contributions to interfaith dialogue and his commitment to understanding Japanese culture while maintaining his Christian mission left a lasting impact on the communities he served. He remained active in his missionary work until his death in 1941, and his legacy continues to be honored at Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery, where he was laid to rest.
