U.S. Congressman

Biography

Clifton A. Woodrum represented Virginia's sixth district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1923 until his death in 1950, championing infrastructure, the public school system, and rural electrification projects that lifted countless families. He worked across the aisle to deliver roads, schools, and flood projects.

He balanced national concerns with constituent access, returning home often to hear their voices and ensuring his work reflected their needs, a commitment still honored at Fair View Cemetery. His colleagues admired his accessibility and calm demeanor.
