Biography
Clifton Chenier (1925–1987) brought the accordion to life as the king of Zydeco, blending Creole melodies, gospel, and R&B to win acclaim across the country and keep the music of his Louisiana home vibrant and joyful.
He mentored younger musicians and kept the dance halls alive with laughter; his influence endures through recordings and festivals, and he is interred at All Saints Cemetery.
