Military Officer/Educator
Biography
Clinton B. Fisk was a military officer whose service during the Civil War and afterward reflected a deep sense of duty, notably as his work with freed people framed a commitment to education and equality. He lent his voice and resources to the founding of institutions that opened doors for those long denied access to learning.
His postbellum efforts ensured that the ideals he fought for on the battlefield took root in classrooms, and his influence endures in the lives of students and families who continue to benefit from his foresight. He rests at Oak Grove Cemetery with the gratitude of a grateful nation.
