Biography

Conrad Quensel (1767–1806) was a Swedish naturalist whose scientific interests and investigations contributed to the natural history scholarship of his time. Living during the height of the Enlightenment, he engaged in the systematic study of the natural world, reflecting the intellectual currents that emphasized empirical observation and scientific classification.

Though his life was brief, ending at age 39, Quensel's work in natural history represented the growing scientific culture of late 18th-century Sweden. His memory is preserved in Solna Cemetery, where he was laid to rest among other notable Swedish scholars and intellectuals of his era.
