Biography

Born in 1835, Constantine B. Kilgore studied law and answered the call to serve his state, rising to the rank of colonel during the Civil War and later representing East Texas in the state legislature. His deep knowledge of the law and keen sense of duty led his neighbors to entrust him with a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he advocated for infrastructure and education for rural communities.

After more than a decade in public life, he retired to quiet reflection, and in 1897 his life closed at White Rose Cemetery, where friends and family remember him for his steadfast leadership and thoughtful devotion to the wellbeing of his constituents.
