Biography

Copley Fielding (1787–1855) distinguished himself as a master of watercolor, capturing the delicate moods of sky and sea with a luminous touch that defined British landscape painting in his time. A founder member and, later, president of the Society of Painters in Water Colours, he championed the medium and inspired a generation of artists.
