Biography

Cornelis Lely devoted his talents as a civil engineer and politician to nurturing the Netherlands' prosperity, championing infrastructure that guided the country into the twentieth century and serving as the driving force behind the Zuiderzee Works.

He is remembered as one of the architects of modern water management, and his earthly remains lie in The Hague General Cemetery where visitors may reflect on his enduring legacy.
