Biography
Crawford Goldsby, born in 1876 and often known as Cherokee Bill, led a tumultuous life on the borderlands at the close of the nineteenth century, his story entwined with the hardships of a mixed heritage and the lawlessness of the frontier. While his later years were marred by violence, the generations that followed have studied his life as a complex reflection of the deep wounds and inequalities of his era.
He was executed in 1896 and is buried at Citizens Cemetery, and in remembering him many seek to learn from the consequences of desperation while honoring the hope for healing that still remains for those who struggle.
