Biography
Cyrus Longworth Lundell was a devoted botanist whose fieldwork in the American Southwest and Central America, including the discovery of the sapodilla (chicle) tree, expanded scientific understanding of tropical forests and fueled the study of sustainable resources.
An educator and advocate for the careful stewardship of plant communities, he mentored generations of scientists and is remembered for his contemplative spirit at Hillcrest Cemetery.
