Daisy Bates was a civil rights activist whose leadership in the Little Rock integration crisis and broader work with the NAACP placed her at the forefront of the struggle for equality.

She chronicled the movement in her writing and mentored the next generation of activists, and Haven of Rest Cemetery now stands as the site of her permanent remembrance.
