Biography
Born in Texas in 1928, Dan Blocker turned his imposing stature and gentle strength into a career in acting after working as a teacher and coach, eventually becoming a household name as Hoss Cartwright on Bonanza.
He used the long-running western to model kindness and moral resolve for millions of viewers, and he was laid to rest at Woodmen Cemetery after his sudden death in 1972.
