Daniel Bishop Davy spent his life on the banks of the Exe, where as a shipbuilder he fused naval skill with inventive engineering, helping to keep Topsham’s shipyards thriving during a century of maritime transition. He was known for exacting craftsmanship, ensuring every keel and mast reflected the same integrity he practiced in family life.

Topsham Cemetery rests beside the estuary that once echoed to the sounds of his workshops, and his memorial stands as a tribute to the vessels and the livelihoods he provided. Visitors to the grave remember a man whose steady hands helped forge a community reliant on the sea.
