Biography

Daniel Govan first became known as a soldier during the Civil War, rising to the rank of general; in his later years he focused on healing and on nurturing the civic life of the communities he joined. He relocated westward and offered counsel shaped by experience, listening to veterans and neighbors alike.

He treasured conversations about the future, honored the memory of those who served, and now rests at Hillcrest Cemetery.
