Biography

Daniel Whitehead Kissam Jr. was born in 1792 into a family of considerable standing in New York society. He came of age during a period of significant growth and change in the young United States, and he participated actively in the commercial and social life of his community.

Kissam's life, though relatively brief, was marked by his engagement with the affairs of his time. He was laid to rest at Christ Church Cemetery, where his memory remains among those who shaped the character of his generation.
